MATRIMONIAL CAUSES VALIDATION |
An Act to
validate dertain decrees of divorce within The Bahamas. | 30 of 1957 |

1. This Act
may be cited as the Matrimonial Causes Validation Act. | Short title. |
2. No
decree for the dissolution of marriage granted by the Supreme Court shall be
invalid by reason only that regard has not been had to the provisions of
section one of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1937, of the United Kingdom, or
section two of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1950 of the United Kingdom, or to the
provisions of any other statute of the United Kingdom relating to divorce or
matrimonial clauses, or to any rule of practice of the United Kingdom which
apply to The Bahamas by reason of section thirty-two of the Supreme Court Act. | Validation of decrees
granted without regard to certain legal requirements. |
3. For the
removal of doubts it is hereby declared that since the passing of the
Matrimonial Causes Amendment Act 1954 section two of the Matrimonial Causes Act
1950 of the United Kingdom does not apply in The Bahamas. | Removal of doubts as to the
effects of The Matrimonial Causes Amendment Act 1954. |
4. All
decrees nisi and absolute for the dissolution of marriage heretofore
granted by the Supreme Court are hereby ratified, approved and confirmed. | Validation of all decrees
heretofore granted. |
