BAHAMAS ELECTRICITY CORPORATION (VESTING OF LAND) |
An Act to
vest in The Bahamas Electricity Corporation a tract of land situate on the
south side of the Island of New Providence and being a portion of Clifton
Estate, the said tract of land being separated by an existing public road
thirty feet wide. | 2 of 1958 |

WHEREAS no request
by the Air Council has been made under the provisions of Section 4 of The
Acquisition of Land (Air Fields) Act 1944 to the Governor in Council AND
WHEREAS Her Majesty's Government has agreed that no such request will now be
made in respect of the area of land described in the first paragraph of the
Schedule to that Act, as amended by The Acquisition of Land (Air Fields) Amendment
Act 1950: |
1. This Act
may be cited as the Bahamas Electricity Corporation (Vesting of Land) Act. | Short title. |
2. In this
Act: | Interpretation. |
"Corporation"
means the Bahamas Electricity Corporation. |
3. Notwithstanding
any of the provisions of the Acquisition of Land Act and the Acquisition of
Land (Air Fields) Act 1944, there shall be vested in the Corporation in fee
simple the area of land described in the first paragraph of the Schedule to
this Act for the purposes of the construction and maintenance of a steam
generating station and for other purposes connected therewith. | Vesting in the Corporation
of a tract of land. |
4. Notwithstanding
the provisions of Section 3 of this Act, it shall be the duty of the
Corporation, as soon as may be convenient, to convey to the Public Board of
Works for New Providence in fees simple in trust for the public service of The
Bahamas that strip of public road described in the second paragraph of the
Schedule to this Act. | The Corporation to convey a
strip of roadway to the Public Board of Works. |
SCHEDULE |
ALL
THAT tract comprising two lots of land situate on the South side of the Island
of New Providence and being a portion of Clifton Estate and containing in all
five and fifty-seven one-hundredths acres, the said tract being separated by an
existing public road thirty feet wide and being bounded Northeastwardly by the
property of Nassoak Limited and running thereon four hundred feet
Southeastwardly by Crown Land and running thereon a total of six hundred and
forty-six feet Southwestwardly by the Sea and running thereon three hundred and
ninety-six feet and Northwestwardly by land the property of Caves Company
Limited and running thereon a total of six hundred and thirty feet. |
THAT
strip of public road and road reservation together being thirty feet wide and
four hundred and ten feet long which said strip passes through and separates
the Northern and Southern portions of the tract of land described above. |
