ROMAN CATHOLIC PREFECT APOSTOLIC OF THE BAHAMAS INCORPORATION

An Act to incorporate the Roman Catholic Prefect Apostolic of The Bahamas.

1. This Act may be cited as the Roman Catholic Prefect Apostolic of the Bahamas Incorporation Act.

Short title.

2. In this Act the term "successors in office" means the person from time to time having, by virtue of The Canon Law of the Roman Catholic Church or by appointment by the proper authority in Rome, supreme ecclesiastical jurisdiction in The Bahamas as Ordinary in the Roman Catholic Church.

Interpretation.

3. The Most Reverend John Bernard Kevenhoerster, O.S.B., Bishop, Roman Catholic Prefect Apostolic of the Bahamas, and his successors in office, shall be a body corporate and have the name of "Roman Catholic Prefect Apostolic of the Bahamas," and by that name shall have perpetual succession, and shall have full power to purchase, take, hold, enjoy, sell, grant, convey, mortgage, lease, invest, and otherwise deal with and dispose of, all property real and personal of what nature or kind soever hereby vested and hereafter acquired and may sue and be sued in all the Courts in The Bahamas.

4. All property in The Bahamas real or personal, of what nature or kind soever, which is now vested in any manner in the Roman Catholic Vicar Forane in The Bahamas shall vest in and be held by the Roman Catholic Prefect Apostolic of The Bahamas:

Provided that such vesting and holding shall be subject to the rights of the King His heirs and successors and of all bodies politic and corporate and of all other persons except such as are mentioned in this Act and those claiming by from and under them.

5. All property real or personal, of what nature or kind soever, heretofore and hereafter devised or bequeathed by will, or otherwise given to the Roman Catholic Church in The Bahamas, shall be held by, and is and shall be hereby vested in, and shall be deemed to be the property of, the said corporate body.

6. All property vested in, or hereafter acquired by, the said corporate body shall be held by the said corporate body for the use and benefit of the Roman Catholic Church in The Bahamas.
