WATER SKIING AND MOTOR BOAT CONTROL REGULATIONS

|
|
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Water Skiing and Motor Boat Control Regulations.
|
Citation.
|
|
2. Every owner wishing to register his motor boat under section 11 of the Water Skiing and Motor Boat Control Act (hereinafter in these Regulations referred to as "the Act") shall apply in writing-
|
Form of application for registration.
|
(a)
in New Providence, to the Port Director; or
|
(b)
in an Out Island, to the Commissioner of the District,
|
|
in the form specified in Schedule I to these Regulations.
|
|
3. Upon the registration of every motor boat under the Act, there shall be furnished to the owner thereof a certificate of registration in the form specified in Schedule II to these Regulations.
|

4. The register of motor boats to be maintained by the Port Director and by Commissioners in accordance with section 11(2) of the Act shall be in the form specified in Schedule III to these Regulations.

5. Every registered motor boat shall be allocated a serial registration number, consisting of numerals prefixed by letters which shall be an abbreviation of the name of the Island or District where registration has been effected.
|

6. (1) The registration number shall be so painted upon either side of the bows of the registered motor boat concerned as to provide clear legibility for identification purposes with the naked eye in ordinary daylight at a distance of two hundred feet.

(2) The number shall be painted in blocked characteristics in good proportion and not less than three inches in height.
|
|
(3) The number shall be painted on the boat in white if the hull of the boat is black or dark-coloured, and black if the hull is white or light-coloured.
|
|
7. Any person proposing to mark off a lane with ropes and buoys in the restricted zone for the purposes of water skiing shall apply for permission in writing to the Port Director or Commissioner, as the case may be, specifying the proposed location of the lane.

8. (1) The size of the buoys to be used in marking off any lane for water skiing shall be as follows-
|

(a)
one buoy of not less than 10 inches in diameter shall be used at each end of the restricted zone upon each side of the lane; and
|
(b)
other buoys spaced out between the endmarker buoys shall be of not less than ¼ inch diameter.
|
|
(2) Buoys shall be spaced out along the ropes at intervals not exceeding 10 feet.
|
|
(3) All buoys used for this purpose shall be coloured bright red.
|
|
9. The types and sizes of rope to be used in marking off any lane for water skiing shall be as follows-
|

steel wire, not being less than ¼ inch in diameter.
