MINISTRY OF
AGRICULTURE (INCORPORATION) |
An Act to
confer upon the Minister responsible for Agriculture a corporate status with
the power to hold and dispose of agricultural land. | 22 of 1993 |

1. This Act may be cited as the Ministry of Agriculture
(Incorporation) Act, 1993. | Short title. |
2. (1) Subject to subsection (2), the Minister
responsible for Agriculture shall as regards his functions in relation to that
responsibility be a corporation sole with power to acquire, hold, lease and
dispose of agricultural land, to enter into contracts and to sue and be sued,
and all property vested in him pursuant to this section shall be held by him in
trust for Her Majesty in right of Her Government of The Bahamas for the purpose
of the aforementioned functions. | Functions and powers of Minister. |
(2) The power
vested in the Minister under subsection (1) to dispose of agricultural land
shall not include the power to sell agricultural hand and the power of the
Minister to lease agricultural land shall, in respect of a lease for a term
exceeding twenty-one years, be exercisable subject to the approval of the
Governor-General. |
3. Without prejudice to the provisions of section 10 of
the Agriculture and Fisheries Act, the Minister shall lay upon the table of
each House of Parliament before the end of April or as soon as practicable
thereafter in every year a report dealing with any lease granted by the
Minister in respect of agricultural land. | Minister's report to be tabled. |
