CHAPTER 10

PARLIAMENTARIANS (SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES)

An Act to make provision in respect of the salaries and allowances of senators and members of The House of Assembly.

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Parliamentarians (Salaries and Allowances) Act, 1992.

Short title.

2. (1) Subject to the provisions of subsection (2), there shall be paid to the persons holding the offices and posts specified in the first column of the Schedule, the salaries and allowances respectively set forth opposite thereto in the second and third columns of that Schedule.

Salaries and allowances of Parliamentarians.

(2) A person holding the office of Speaker, Deputy Speaker, President of the Senate or Vice President of the Senate shall not be paid any salary or allowance other than the respective salary or allowance specified in the Schedule in respect of that office.

3. All salaries and allowances payable under this Act shall be charged on and shall be paid out of the Consolidated Fund by equal monthly instalments.

Payment of salaries and allowances.

4. (1) The Prime Minister may by Order subject to affirmative resolution of the House of Assembly amend the Schedule.

Amendment of Schedule.

(2) In subsection (1) the expression "subject to affirmative resolution of the House of Assembly" in relation to an Order means that any such Order is not to come into operation until approved by a resolution of the House of Assembly.
